About BHMK

MyKingstonKids in partnership with Harambee are proud to present the fifth year of Black History Month Kingston. The past 4 years have been historic and have displayed the unified consciousness of the community of Kingston, New York. The African-American contributions were highlighted along with strategies of growth, awareness and celebration. With over 30 events city wide to date 2022 will continue the increased amount of community participation virtual and in person.

We expect to increase our inspirational selection of historic, educational and engaging activities during Black History Month for 2022. Our mission is to showcase and pay tribute to the legacy and contributions of African-Americans in Kingston and the surrounding areas. We will also emphasize strategies to better race relations within the community thru various talks, panels and exercises. We are marketing a combination of events and activities under the one Black History Month Kingston umbrella and welcome interested parties to join.

Black History Month Kingston is projected to become a favorite annual community celebration for all generations and cultures throughout this region. The month will provide an opportunity for participants to engage in conversation, education and pay tribute to the African and African-American legacy in Kingston.

This year you can access everything Black History Kingston from our newly designed Mobile App from your Google Play Store or Apple Store. You will find events, our new legends sections and the Sojourner Truth walking and audio tour narrated by the sensational Evelyn Clarke.
